Prince Harry begins new life in Canada with Meghan and baby Archie

It's official: Britain's Prince Harry has returned to Canada to start his new life away from the royal family.

The prince was photographed arriving on Vancouver Island on Monday night to reunite with Meghan Markle and their son Archie almost two weeks after the couple announced their plans to step back as senior members of the royal family.

Meghan had returned to Canada 11 days prior, while the duke remained in London to discuss the fallout with Queen Elizabeth and other senior royals. It was reported that the couple's eight-month-old child was being watched over by the duchess' friend, Jessica Mulroney.

On Jan. 19, Harry attended a dinner held in support of Sentebale, an organization the duke founded in 2006 to support African youth affected by HIV. He told the audience in a speech that he hoped to support the monarchy without public funding, but had "no other option" but to step back.

"Unfortunately, that wasn't possible," he said to Sentebale supporters.

"I've accepted this, knowing that it doesn't change who I am or how committed I am. But I hope that helps you understand what it had come to, that I would step my family back from all I've ever known."

On Monday, the duke also attended what may be his last royal appearance, at a summit hosted by Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
