Prince William And Kate Have Sweet Encounter With a Little Boy Dressed as Palace Guard

Boston is a long way from Buckingham Palace. But William and Kate were given a sweet reminder of home today as they came face to face with a little boy dressed as a Palace guard. Henry Dynov-Teixeira, eight, was all dressed up for the occasion in a bright red suit and hat just like the bearskin ones worn by the personal troops to the Sovereign.

The royal couple bent down to chat with the youngster, who had also brought flowers for Kate, as they departed Greentown Labs in Somerville which was their first stop on their second day in Boston. Henry’s outfit mirrored those worn by the foot guards of the Household Cavalry and seen during ceremonial events.

Royal reporter Richard Palmer noted on Twitter that the boy’s mum said he chose the costume after seeing the changing the guard ceremony on a visit to London. After meeting the couple, Henry said, "I’m going to scream."

The Prince and Princess of Wales have a full schedule today as they continue with their three-day tour which is focussed around William’s Earthshot Prize tomorrow night. At Greentown Labs they were met with cheers and shouts of “We love you, William!” as they exited the vehicle.

While at the labs, which is the largest climate technology start-up incubator in North America, they heard about climate innovations which are working on building a more sustainable world. They also met Earthshot CEO Hannah Jones and four past Earthshot winners or finalists. Chatting with Katherine Dafforn, co-founder of Living Seawalls, William said, “For all of us, time is ticking.”

The couple's second stop of the day was in the Chelsea area to meet young people being helped by non-profit Roca, which aims to reduce levels of trauma, violence and incarceration, create sustained employment, and improve parenting.

The royals were welcomed by cheering crowds at Boston’s City Hall on Wednesday, however they were also on the receiving end of some boos when they were shown on the Jumbatron at an NBA game that night.

The trip is taking place amidst Buckingham Palace controversy which continues to make headlines. Black charity founder Ngozi Fulani shared on social media that she was repeatedly asked where she was from by a household member at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday. The Palace swiftly issued an apology and the woman has stepped down. Ms Fulani told U.K program Good Morning Britain about her experience, “While I didn’t experience physical violence, what I feel I experienced was a form of abuse.”
