Now that Prince William’s birthday wishes have started rolling in, the royal is expressing his sincere gratitude.
Today, the Duke of Cambridge (who turned 40) posted a rare personal message on the social media account he shares with his wife, Kate Middleton. The Instagram Story featured a green background, along with a special note to those who sent him birthday wishes.
He wrote, “Thank you for all the happy birthday messages today!” The royal even added a personalized sign-off: “W.”
In honor of the special occasion, various members of the royal family posted heartfelt tributes for the Duke of Cambridge. This included his dad Prince Charles, who shared an Instagram slideshow of himself and his son throughout the decades.
This featured a black-and-white snapshot of a much younger Charles holding a baby William in his arms. “Wishing The Duke of Cambridge a very happy 40th birthday!” the caption read, alongside a cake and red balloon emoji.
Queen Elizabeth also posted a special slideshow on the royal family’s Instagram page. The caption included details about William’s birth: “Prince William Arthur Philip Louis is the elder son of The Prince of Wales and Diana, Princess of Wales. He was born at 9.03pm on 21 June 1982, at St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London. A bulletin, placed on the gates of Buckingham Palace announced that he weighed 7lb 1 1/2 oz.”
Prince William is likely spending his birthday with his wife and their three children: Prince George (8), Princess Charlotte (7) and Prince Louis (4).
Cheers to another year!
