Princess Beatrice Puts Her Own Valentine's Day Spin on Kate Middleton's Gray Vest and Blouse Combination
Princess Beatrice put a flirty twist on the style previously worn by the Princess of Wales
Princess Beatrice might have picked up some fashion inspiration from Kate Middleton.
Queen Elizabeth's granddaughter attended Poppy Delevingne's Della Vite Valentine's lunch at The Ivy Chelsea Garden on Thursday. Princess Beatrice, 35, rocked a cozy winter ensemble, sporting a gray sweater vest over a white blouse paired with a wool skirt and black tights for the holiday event.
The look was reminiscent of an ensemble that Princess Kate, 42, wore during her October visit to Vsi Razom Community Hub. The royal wore a similar gray sleeveless sweater over a blouse to pack parcels of food and clothes with young Ukrainians who arrived in the U.K. in the last year. Instead of completing her look with a skirt and loafers, however, Princess Kate opted for trousers and heels.
It's not the first time that the two royal women have donned similar looks. Just months after Princess Kate wore a sparkling pink gown by Jenny Packham for Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa of Jordan's royal wedding banquet in June, Princess Beatrice shimmered in a similar shade for the opening of Monique Lhuillier's London flagship store in Mayfair.
Princess Beatrice also attended the wedding of her close friend Ellie Goulding in August 2019 in a green dress with ruffles by The Vampire's Wife. The following year, Kate chose a different piece by the same brand featuring a similar color and details for a tour in Ireland.

Princess Beatrice is known for her smart street style, but her fashion sense hasn’t always drawn praise. At the 2011 wedding of her cousin Prince William to Kate, Beatrice’s Philip Treacy “Pretzel” hat (which she later auctioned for charity) was highly criticized.
"They got hammered in the press, and it was a little unfair,” Charlie Anderson, a former stylist to Princess Beatrice and her sister, Princess Eugenie, previously told PEOPLE.
These days, “I think they are mostly getting it right,” said Anderson. "I think they have got more daring, although they have both always been quite daring, and they seem to be getting to know themselves better."
Perhaps Princess Beatrice's best look yet was borrowed. For her 2020 wedding to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, Beatrice wore a Norman Hartnell gown that Queen Elizabeth had in her closet. The Queen wore the ivory gown on at least three occasions in the 1960s.

While Princess Beatrice lunched in London with Pixie Geldof, Dean Piper, Phoebe Vela Hitchcox, Poppy Jamie and more, Princess Kate is continuing to recover from her abdominal surgery. After having the operation on Jan. 16, the royal was released from the hospital and returned home to Windsor on Monday.
Kensington Palace said Princess Kate is “making good progress," adding that she and Prince William are grateful to her medical team, “especially the dedicated nursing staff.”
The palace has not disclosed specifics about the nature of Princess Kate’s condition, but it is known to be noncancerous.
