Princess Lilibet Is Christened in California
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle celebrated the christening of their daughter, Princess Lilibet Diana, at their home in Montecito, California this past weekend.
"I can confirm that Princess Lilibet Diana was christened on Friday, March 3 by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Rev John Taylor," a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex told Town & Country.
Reverend John Harvey Taylor is the Bishop of Los Angeles, serving in the Diocese of Los Angeles of the Episcopal Church. Before his ordination, he worked as a newspaper reporter, chief of staff to former President Richard Nixon and director of the Richard Nixon Library.
In attendance at the small ceremony, People reported, were Meghan's mom, Doria Ragland and Lilibet's godfather, Tyler Perry. Lilibet's godmother, whom the Sussexes have not revealed, was also in attendance. Prince Harry and Meghan reportedly extended an invite to King Charles, Queen Camila, Prince William, and Kate Middleton, but they did not attend.
People also reported that following the ceremony, attendees enjoyed an afternoon of food and dancing, and Prince Archie danced with his little sister.
Prince Archie was christened in the private chapel at Windsor Castle. "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to share the happiness of this day, and would like to thank everyone around the world for their ongoing support," a statement said at the time. "They feel so fortunate to have enjoyed this special moment with family and Archie’s godparents." He was christened by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
Archie wore the same christening gown that other members of the royal family did at their baptism—including his cousins Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. There are no details on what his sister, Lili, wore during her baptism.
Today's news also seemingly confirms that Prince Harry and Meghan have decided to use titles for their children.
