Following the news that Peter Phillips, the queen's grandson, is set to divorce his wife, Autumn, another royal split has been announced.

David Armstrong-Jones, formally known as Viscount Linley and the 2nd Earl of Snowdon, has separated from his wife, Serena Armstrong-Jones, the Countess of Snowdon.

A spokesperson confirms to BAZAAR.com, "The Earl and Countess of Snowdon have amicably agreed that their marriage has come to an end and that they shall be divorced. They ask that the press respect their privacy and that of their family."

Viscount Linley wed Serena Stanhope 26 years ago, on October 8, 1993, in Westminster. They share two children: Charles Armstrong-Jones, also known as Viscount Linley, who was born on July 1, 1999, and Lady Margarita Armstrong-Jones, who arrived on May 14, 2002.

David's father, Anthony Armstrong-Jones, also known as Lord Snowdon, understandably had a huge impact on the furniture designer's life. As the 2nd Earl of Snowdon told The Telegraph, "I inherited my love of design from my father, the Earl of Snowdon, who was always fascinated by pushing the boundaries of an object—working out how to make it touch the ground in two places rather than three."
