Province to dodge blizzard heading to Nova Scotia and P.E.I.

New Brunswick is in for another cloudy day but a low pressure system will bring stormy conditions to much of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island today.

"Snow and blowing snow will produce blizzard conditions for Cape Breton, eastern Prince Edward Island and mainland Nova Scotia," said CBC meteorologist Brennan Allen.

That area is expected to get 15 centimetres of snow while Cape Breton could see as much as 30 centimetres of snow and whiteout conditions.

Allen said New Brunswick will avoid the storm altogether.

"Expect a mix of sun and cloud to partly cloudy skies with the chance of some flurries. Winds will still be strong so localized blowing snow is still possible," he said.

"Temperatures across the region will remain near 0 C … the exception is western New Brunswick where sunshine could cause temperatures to warm into the mid-single digits for a short time this afternoon."

Friday will be a pleasant day with a mix of sun and cloud and sunshine is expected Saturday.
