Public pools in Lachine and Verdun will be closed until further notice after one lifeguard tested positive for COVID-19 and another came into contact with an infected person.

The temporary closures are measure to prevent further spread of the coronavirus.

Two public pools are closed in Verdun: Arthur-Therrien at 3750 Gaétan-Laberge Boulevard, and de la Fontaine at 550 Place de la Fontaine.

The Verdun borough said one of its lifeguards came into contact with someone who tested positive. The lifeguard worked Sunday through Tuesday, although neither that lifeguard nor any of the others came into close contact with citizens in that time, the borough said.

All lifeguards who were in contact with the employee at risk will get tested for COVID-19, and the pool facilities will be completely disinfected, the borough said.
