With two babies less than seven months apart in age, sleep is not something Courtney Sastaunik and her husband, Chris, have much time for these days. Despite all the care the two little ones need right now, the parents have been over the moon since their daughter, Kate Juli, came rushing into the world last week and completed the Regina family. Sastaunik's sister-in-law Tara Fortier was front and centre when the couple became parents once again — she was Sastaunik's surrogate, and gave birth to

OTTAWA (Reuters) -Canada's Supreme Court on Friday upheld a decision by a lower court to speed up the parole eligibility for the man convicted of gunning down six people in a mosque in 2017 and deemed a 2011 law that allowed lengthy parole sentencing as unconstitutional. Canada's top court was adjudicating on the case challenging a 2020 decision by a Quebec court to lower Alexandre Bissonnette's parole eligibility to 25 years from the original sentence that required him to wait much longer for the possibility of parole. The Supreme Court said that such a punishment removes a realistic possibility of parole and called it "incompatible with human dignity."

After her brother accepted a job in Seattle in the summer of 2020, she decided to move there too. “It was fine until it wasn’t,” Im, 36, said of her time in New York. “The pandemic really changed my mindset about how I wanted to live or how I needed to live."
As carjackings in Toronto continue to surge, police say they are now investigating four similar incidents that happened in less than two hours in Scarborough overnight. SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — The Biden administration has released the lease terms for offshore wind projects that would place hundreds of turbines in California's coastal waters — the first such project off the nation's Pacific coast. The two projects along the state's northern and central coasts are envisioned to generate up to 4.5 gigawatts of wind energy. That's enough to power about 1.5 million homes, the U.S. Department of the Interior said Thursday. Wind turbines could eventually cover up to

Most of Pennsylvania's 67 counties have said they will begin next week, with a Wednesday deadline to start. For less populated counties, the process cou
The Ontario Liberals have lost another candidate with one week to go until voting day. Leader Steven Del Duca says Audrey Festeryga has withdrawn her candidacy in Chatham-Kent-Leamington and will no longer appear on the ballot for the Liberals. The development means there are now three ridings in which the Liberals aren't running a candidate for the June 2 provincial election. Festeryga had stepped in after the party dropped a previous candidate in the riding who had used a homophobic slur on so

"Nobody is ready to go ahead right now anyway, everyone needs more time," Court of Queen's Bench Justice Robert Dysart said Thursday when the case briefly returned to court. Lewis admitted sta
