Stolen puppy returned to owners

A "little treasure" is no longer a missing treasure.

The RCMP said there was a happy reunion in Timberlea, Nova Scotia, Thursday night as a stolen puppy was returned to her worried family.

Xiaobao, a 12-week-old Boston terrier, was swiped from her home during a break and enter on Wednesday.

Her owner, Ashley Hills, begged the thief to return her beloved pet.

"I pretty much had a breakdown. I didn't even realize anything else was gone, just focused on 'where's our dog'."

The RCMP said Thursday that a Halifax Regional Police officer received a tip with the location of the dog. Xiaobao was found safe and returned immediately to her family.

Hills said her dog's name means "little treasure."

The thief also took off with some jewelry, a laptop and a tablet.

"It's shocking that people could do that. Things are one thing. Things are replaceable. But when it's an actual animal that you can bond with, it's unbelievable."

The RCMP say their investigation is continuing.
