Who is Joshua Dobbs, who posted his first quarterback win with an upset win over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday?

The Arizona Cardinals quarterback completed 17 of 21 passes for 189 yards and a touchdown to lead the 28-16 upset of the Dallas Cowboys in Glendale, Ariz.

Dobbs has started all three games for the Cardinals this season, but only got the start after a long journey around NFL camps since 2017.

Originally a fourth-round draft pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2017 draft, Dobbs played college football at the University of Tennessee.

He was on the Steelers’ practice squad in 2017, then appeared in five games with just 12 pass attempts for the Steelers in 2018.

After appearing in two games for the Steelers in 2019, throwing just five passes, Pittsburgh traded him to Jacksonville on Nov. 19, 2019. He remained on the Jaguars’ training camp roster in 2020. However, the Jaguars waived him on Sept. 5, 2020.

Thus, the Steelers picked him up again. He appeared in one game with the Steelers in 2020.

After he was released by the Steelers after the 2021 season, he was signed by the Cleveland Browns on April 14, 2022. He never appeared in a game with the Browns who released him on Nov. 28, 2022.

The Detroit Lions then signed him on Dec. 19, 2022. He never appeared in a game for the Lions who moved him to their practice squad. His stay there was short as the Tennessee Titans signed him.

He played in two games for the Titans in the 2022 season, completing 40 of 68 passes for 411 yards.

After the 2022 season, the Cleveland Browns again signed him However, they traded him to the Arizona Cardinals on Aug. 24, 2023.

Although he joined the Cardinals late, he was thrust into the starting position because of injury to starter Kyler Murray.

In the first two games of the season, he completed 42 of 61 passes for 360 yards as the Cardinals lost 20-16 to the Commanders and 31-28 to the New York Giants.

On Sunday, against the Cowboys, he recorded his first NFL win. Convincingly.
