Quebec City man hit by vehicle during dispute in Essex County, OPP say

An arrest has been made following a weekend incident in Essex County, in which a Quebec City man was allegedly run down after he and his friends got into an argument with another group of people.

The Ontario Provincial Police say that in the early hours of Saturday morning, two groups of people got into a verbal altercation in Lakeshore, Ont.

That's when police say a 27-year-old local man got into a vehicle and drove at the other group of people.

A 22-year-old Quebec City man was struck and taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The local man is alleged to have fled the scene. He was arrested shortly thereafter, police say.

The accused faces charges of assault with a weapon, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failing to stop at the scene of a motor vehicle accident.

The charges have not been proven in court.
