Quebec reports 26 more COVID-19 deaths, 36-patient drop in hospitalizations

MONTREAL — Quebec is reporting 26 more deaths linked to the novel coronavirus today and a 36-patient decline in COVID-19 hospitalizations.

The Health Department says 2,290 people are in hospital with the disease after 182 people were admitted in the past 24 hours and 218 were discharged.

It says 81 people are in intensive care, a decline of four from the day before.

Health officials say 9,104 health-care workers are off the job due to COVID-19, a decline of 273 from the previous day.

They say 1,649 new cases were detected through PCR testing, which is reserved for certain higher-risk groups.

The Health Department says 32,637 doses of vaccine were administered in the past 24 hours. According to the province's public health institute, 90.6 per cent of Quebec residents 12 and over are considered adequately vaccinated.
