Queen Elizabeth Hospital telethon celebrating 20th year

The 20th annual telethon in support of Charlottetown's Queen Elizabeth Hospital is on this weekend.

Many of the volunteers, donors and musicians have been participating since the telethon began. This year the event will feature a "look back" over the last 20 years, said Barb Dunphy, CEO of the QEH Foundation.

"We've had patients tell stories, very personal stories, and sometimes the outcomes have been positive, and sometimes maybe they are not," she said.

"But we are looking back at some of our patients we had 20 years ago, to see where they are at now and how well they are doing now, so we are really looking forward to that."

Over the past two decades, $8 million has been raised through the telethon for medical equipment at the QEH, Dunphy said.

This year's fundraising goal is $500,000.
