Quinta Brunson Promises More 'Fun' as “Abbott Elementary” Cast Returns for Season 4 — See the Pic! (Exclusive)
Season 4 premieres on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 9:30 pm on ABC
School's almost back in session for Abbott Elementary!
Alongside PEOPLE's exclusive look at the key art for the upcoming season, which features the cast looking off into the distance with hopeful looks on their faces, series creator Quinta Brunson opens up about what fans can expect in the highly anticipated fourth installment of the ABC comedy.
"It's gonna be a fun season of tv," she muses.
Though Brunson, 34, remains tight lipped on what's to come, executive producer Justin Halpern adds, "We are really excited to grow these characters in season 4 and keep making comedy.”
Abbott Elementary follows a group of teachers at a Philadelphia public school. The three-time Emmy Award-winning mockumentary sitcom stars Brunson as Janine Teagues, Tyler James Williams as Gregory Eddie, Janelle James as Principal Ava Coleman, Lisa Ann Walter as Melissa Schemmenti, Sheryl Lee Ralph as Barbara Howard, Chris Perfetti as Jacob Hill and William Stanford Davis as Mr. Johnson.
At San Diego Comic-Con 2024 in July, Brunson and her costars revealed that fans will see a special crossover episode with another TV series that has yet to be announced.
“I’m not gonna tell you with who, or with what, or where, or when, but it’s really exciting and I think it’ll change television as we know it," Brunson teased of the "interesting crossover."
She later told Variety she loved watching the Disney Channel crossover episodes that brought the casts of That’s So Raven, The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, and Hannah Montana together.
“Those things are what reinvigorate TV viewers, TV watchers, and I think it’s always fun to find ways to reinvigorate our audiences,” she said. “What’s important with Abbott is we protect the show. Because it’s a ‘mockumentary’ we have to protect what we’re doing, but to find a way for it to still be possible to do something cool like that. It makes me really, really happy. It’s just like an ode to the medium.”
“I just live for those kind of magic moments, and I'm excited to be able to bring one to TV with Abbott," she continued.
