Rabbit hunting accident sends man to hospital with minor injuries

A man was taken to hospital with minor injuries, after he was accidentally shot while out hunting rabbits with his grandfather.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary was called to the emergency room at St. Clare's Hospital in St. John's Wednesday afternoon about a man, 35, who arrived with a shotgun wound.

Police were told the man and his grandfather, 75, were rabbit hunting in the Cochrane Pond area when the accident happened.

The grandfather fired the gun at what he thought was a rabbit.

The man suffered minor injuries from the shotgun pellets.

Police are continuing their investigation to determine if any charges will be laid.
