Rain, thunderstorms and severe weather may hit Fort Worth Tuesday evening

Weekend sun and warm weather with highs in the 80s will be cut short with some showers mid-week and cooler temperatures in the 70s.

The Dallas-Fort Worth area may see some strong to severe weather beginning Tuesday evening, the National Weather Service reported.

“The remnants of what will become Hurricane Rick will move across the Gulf Coast region Tuesday afternoon, increasing rain chances across Central Texas,” the weather service said. “Widespread showers and thunderstorms will be possible Tuesday night into Wednesday along the front.”

Throughout the day Tuesday, it’s likely to be mostly sunny with a high near 87 degrees with some light and moderate winds between 10 to 15 mph. Winds close to 30 mph are expected to pick up in the afternoon.

Later Tuesday, there’s a 50% chance for showers and thunderstorms, with temperatures dropping to the mid-to-low 60s, which may continue into Wednesday morning with a 20% chance for rain and thunder. Temperatures Wednesday are expected to stay below 80, the weather service said.
