Raleigh’s first homicide of 2025 took place New Year’s morning, police say
Raleigh police say a man was shot off Poole Road early New Year’s Day and later died at a hospital.
Police have released few details, including the man’s name. But they say they are treating the shooting as a homicide and that they have not made any arrests.
The shooting occurred in the 1600 block of Poole Road, just beyond the split with New Bern Avenue. Police were called at about 6:15 a.m. Wednesday and found the man with more than one gunshot wound.
Police announced three hours later that he had died at the hospital.
