Ranchlands suspicious death investigated by Calgary police

Calgary police are investigating a suspicious death in the northwest community of Ranchlands.

The call came in around 5:30 p.m. Sunday from someone who discovered a body in a home on Ranchlands Bay NW.

Both the medical examiner and homicide unit have been called in.

Police say the body was found in a housing project.

Anne Scott, who lives just a couple of doors down from where the body was discovered, said she her truck was broken into earlier in the day on Sunday but she didn't hear any noise or partying in the area.

She said she's not too rattled by the death and the police presence.

"I'm not too concerned," Scott said. "I know that we got a really amazing police force that does do amazing compared to the number of people we have in the city."

Leslie Kennedy, who's lived in the area for three years, said Ranchlands is generally a safe place to live and she's never seen anything like this before.

"I feel really weird," she said. "It's not such a good thing for your neighbourhood."
