Rangers pitcher gets revenge on bull that startled him: 'I killed him and I ate him'

Texas Rangers pitcher Martin Perez was nearly in jeopardy of missing a portion of the regular season after a bizarre incident involving a bull. Perez broke his elbow after being startled by the animal in December.

The 26-year-old didn’t take too kindly to that, and decided to go all carnivore on the bull to prove his point, according to Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

“I killed him and I ate him,” Perez said.

Yikes. That is a harsh punishment.

Perez broke his non-pitching elbow after being startled by the animal. He had surgery, and was expected to miss at least a portion of April.

According to Perez, he called his brother after having surgery on his broken elbow. That’s when he decided the bull had to pay for what it had done.

Perez didn’t seem too torn up about the decision, according to the Star-Telegram.

“It was good meat,” Perez said. “No more bull.”

Perez recovered faster than normal this offseason, making his spring debut Sunday. He allowed one run over five innings, and said he was ready to pitch in the regular season. Perez is hoping to be the team’s fifth starter to open the season.

If the Rangers are smart, they’ll let that happen. You don’t want to get on Perez’s bad side … or else.
