CARDINAL – South Grenville Rangers forward Cooper Kingston’s two goals in the second period helped propel the team’s 5-3 victory over the visiting St. Isidore Eagles November 6. The goals, including one on a power play, added needed insurance as the Eagles rebounded in the third period in an attempted comeback.

Noah Penney started the Rangers on the scoreboard early in the first, followed by Zach White’s go-ahead-goal 10 minutes later. Rangers led the Eagles 2-1 after 20 minutes. Kingston’s goals in the second increased South Grenville’s lead to 4-1.

St. Isidore started the third period in a bad spot, playing five-on-three hockey. Back to even strength, the Eagles scored four minutes into the period to make it a 4-2 game.

Bryce MacDonald added one more insurance goal for the Rangers two minutes later. The Eagles tried once more for a comeback, scoring a power play goal with seven minutes remaining on the clock. Despite giving up three power plays in the span of four minutes, the Rangers held on to win 5-3.

South Grenville remains in second place in the league, one point behind the Clarence Castors and two points ahead of third place Gatineau.

The Rangers look to collect four points this weekend as they take on the rival North Dundas Rockets in Chesterville November 13. South Grenville host the Metcalfe Jets in Cardinal November 14.
