The Toronto Raptors announced on Sunday afternoon that guard Goran Dragic will be away from the team for an undetermined amount of time to deal with a personal matter.

“Goran is taking some time away from the team, with our full support, to manage a personal matter,” general manager Bobby Webster said in a statement. “Goran has the backing of Masai, Nick and the entire organization, and we wish him nothing but the best.”

The 35-year-old was acquired in the off-season in the sign-and-trade deal that saw longtime Raptor Kyle Lowry shipped to Miami. In just five appearances with Toronto this season, the Slovenian has struggled, averaging eight points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists in a limited role.

“He has been a complete professional in the time that he has been with the Raptors,” the statement read. “Goran has been a great mentor to our younger players and a valued teammate for our veterans.”

No more details were provided regarding the reason for Dragic's leave.

Toronto returns to Scotiabank Arena on Sunday night to face the Boston Celtics, kicking off a seven-game homestand after a lengthy road-trip.
