Rare orange lobster caught in Bay of Fundy

A rare orange lobster was trapped in the Bay of Fundy on Friday and is now on display in Alma.

The distinctly-coloured lobster can be seen at the Alma Lobster Shop.

Orange lobsters are considered the rarest of rare and the chances of seeing one are believed to be one in 10 million.

By comparison, blue lobsters are considered one in five million, according to the Department of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries.

The orange colouration is caused by a genetic defect.

A blue lobster was caught off the coast of Antigonish, N.S., earlier this month.
