I've always thought my birthday was special: being born on 9th September 1990, as a kid I would proudly tell anyone who would listen that my date of birth was 9/9/90. My lucky number has always been 9, obviously. When I turned 9 on 9/9/99, I even had a brief segment on the radio. It was a big deal, guys.

Anyway, over the weekend I discovered my unique date of birth has been well and truly trumped... by a member of the royal family, no less. On Friday Princess Beatrice turned 32, and to celebrate, her mum Sarah Ferguson shared a cute throwback photo of her daughter smelling a flower as a child - along with some majorly coincidental details about her birthday.

"Happy Happy Birthday My Dearest Beatrice," the post started. And here's where the revelation came.

"8.8.88 at 8.18pm was one of the greatest and most proud moments of my life," Sarah Ferguson wrote. 8/8/88!!!! At 8.18pm!!!! Stop it now. That is a way better birthday coincidence than mine. I almost feel embarrassed now.

Fergie signed off her sweet birthday message writing: "You are unique and simply one of the most special people on this planet. Your ever loving and devoted Mum". Bless.

Beatrice's mum wasn't the only one to wish her a happy birthday publicly; her sister, Princess Eugenie, also shared an Instagram in honour of the occasion. Posting a never-before-seen picture of the night before Beatrice's wedding last month, Eugenie wrote: "Happy happy Birthday dear Beabea. Here we are on the eve of your wedding. Still rocking a scrunchie or hair accessory (since the 90s) and huge smiles on our faces. ⁣⁣#happybirthday 🎉🎉."

The sisters can be seen beaming with excitement in the photo, no doubt in anticipation of the next day's nuptials. Princess Beatrice married Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in a small, secret ceremony on July 17, after their original May wedding date was cancelled due to coronavirus.

Beatrice and Edo reportedly went off on a honeymoon to France shortly afterwards, and have a "longer, more luxurious honeymoon" planned for this month. With all that and Beatrice's special birthday, the celebrations just keep on coming for this pair.

Happy belated birthday, Princess Beatrice!
