Ratings: CBS’ Jets-Cowboys Game Scores Biggest Network Audience Since the Super Bowl With 25 Million Viewers

CBS’ sports division must be doing an end zone celebration dance right now: The Eye network’s Sunday NFL matchup between the New York Jets and the Dallas Cowboys drew a whopping 25.78 million viewers, making it the most-watched broadcast on network TV since the Super Bowl, the network announced on Tuesday.

The Jets-Cowboys game aired during CBS’ late national game window at 4:25 pm ET on Sunday, while the 1 pm ET early game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Jacksonville Jaguars pulled in 16.15 million viewers, which CBS notes is also up 17% from last year. The combined average of 21.15 million viewers makes Sunday’s doubleheader the most watched in Week 2 for CBS since the NFL returned to the network in 1998.

The big ratings trickled down to CBS’ Sunday night slate as well: The season premiere of 60 Minutes drew 11.8 million total viewers, which marks the largest audience for the series in nearly two years, since November 2021. Plus, the re-airing of the Yellowstone series premiere (which debuted on sister station Paramount Network back in 2018) roped in 6.8 million viewers, which topped last year’s Sunday premieres of The Equalizer and East New York by 10%.

For the record, February’s Super Bowl LVII still reigns supreme as this year’s top TV draw, with 113.1 million viewers tuning in to watch MVP Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs defeat the Philadelphia Eagles.
