For decades, there have been just two types of razors in the world - those for men and those for women,

Now, you can shave - be that your legs, underarms or bikini line - with one specially created for those with sensitive skin.

The newly-unveiled Venus Extra Smooth Sensitive Women’s Razor is designed to cater for the 60% of females who suffer from the beauty concern.

Basic hair removal in the shower or bath can leave them experiencing redness and irritability.

Traditionally, razors have been designed in a one-size-fits-all manner that doesn’t take skin sensitivity into account.

However, this handy product - which is currently £5.49, reduced from £10.99, at Boots - has been made in a way to avoid risk of soreness.

It features less-invasive extra-thin blades, and contains a “unique skin elixir” that’s three times as moisturising as the brand’s original Extra Smooth option.

Speaking to Stylist.co.uk, dermatologist Dr Anita Sturnham explained: “The skin elixir provides a cushion of aloe vera – a great antioxidant that has great soothing properties – so when you shave it not only provides a smooth contour as it glides across skin, but it also helps remove irritation.

“The razor has a moisture ribbon, too, which helps reduce the risk of nicks and cuts.”

It comes after a skin expert warned that commuting can take a toll on your complexion.

Chelsee Lewis, an award-winning London-based facialist, explained that being in close proximity to public transport - like trains, buses and the Tube - can expose us to greater “daily pollution grime” and “free radical damage”.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, the expert said: “Particles are 20 times smaller when traveling on the Tube. That gets into the pores.

“This can upset the skin barrier causing problems such as premature ageing, congestion, dryness.

“Symptoms can also include red patches, sensitive ,irritated, flaky itchy and dull skin.”

Lewis added that pollution “breaks down collagen” meaning there’s a lack of it on public transport which leaves our skin “very stressed”.

This in turn “cuts oxygen supply” to cells meaning they don’t work as “efficiently”.

The skin expert recommends looking after your face by investing in an SPF 50 and Vitamin C serum, along with a good-quality daily moisturiser.

She also advises double-cleansing in the evening, and using masks and exfoliating on a regular basis.

To protect your skin she suggests purchasing special anti-pollution skincare which contain antioxidants to combat oxidative damage.
