RCMP confirm murder-suicide in Fort Saskatchewan

Two members of Colleen Sillito's family were inside her Fort Saskatchewan house when she was shot to death on her driveway by an angry former boyfriend, RCMP say.

Paul Jacob shot Sillito then turned the gun on himself and committed suicide.

Autopsy results released by police Tuesday confirmed that Jacob and Colleen Sillito died in a murder-suicide.

RCMP said both bodies were found on the driveway outside Sillito's home, where she lived with three of her children.

Sillito had been granted a restraining order against Jacob in January. When she filed for the order, she said Jacob had threatened to kill her if she left him and that he was using cocaine and drinking heavily.

"I'm afraid for my safety," she wrote in her application. "He's volatile and unpredictable. I don't want him to take it out on me or the children."

The order remained in effect until July 2015.

She was murdered on Friday.
