The death of a man whose body was found in a Kelowna, B.C., park this week has been deemed not suspicious by police.

The discovery of the body in the 1500-block of Sutherland Avenue near Burtch Road was reported to RCMP around 8:15 a.m. PT Monday, according to a statement from the Kelowna detachment.

Initially, investigators with the RCMP's serious crime unit had been called to assist with the case.

But in a release Tuesday, Kelowna RCMP said the man's death had been sudden and was not suspicious, and the investigation has now been turned over to the B.C. Coroners Service.

The dead person has been identified as a 52-year-old Kelowna resident.

"Our thoughts are with the victim's family at this difficult time," RCMP said in the release.
