RCMP investigating sudden death in Kugluktuk

RCMP in Kugluktuk, Nunavut have announced they are investigating after a 46-year-old female was found deceased in a residence in the community Monday morning.

According to a news release, police were dispatched to a residence at about 10:30 a.m. on April 10, "to conduct a well-being check on a middle aged female who family and friends had not heard from in a while."

Upon entering the residence, police found the deceased female. According to the release, RCMP are treating the death as suspicious.

The RCMP's "V" Division Major Crime Unit, as well as forensic identification units have been dispatched to assist with the investigation.

Correction : This story has been updated to correct the deceased woman's age. RCMP amended their news release Tuesday afternoon to state the woman was 46, not 55.(Apr 11, 2017 4:56 PM)
