Gunman arrested after several shots fired near Grande Prairie

A 58-year-old man has been arrested after several gunshots were fired Tuesday evening near a Halliburton oilfield services building just north of Grande Prairie.

RCMP told CBC News the tense situation in Clarimont ended peacefully just before midnight.

The arrest was made without incident, and police said no shots were fired at officers. The suspect, a Grande Prairie man, will face charges, RCMP Insp. Gibson Glavin said.

No one was injured. Glavin said the investigation continues.

RCMP were called out around 7:50 p.m. and sent all available resources to the scene of the shooting. Police secured the area around the site.

Roadblocks were set up for several hours in the area around 70th Avenue and 102nd Street, and police warned the public to avoid the area.
