A large contingent of police officers are on scene Wednesday morning, Nov. 17, searching a property at 1428 Route 165 in Bulls Creek as the RCMP's Major Crime Unit investigates a Sunday, Nov. 15 homicide.

The RCMP set up a command post as investigators scour the property.

RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Nick Arbour confirmed on Monday the death of 35-year-old Christine Thibodeau, who police said died of gunshot wounds early Sunday morning. They said Thibodeau died at the scene from her injuries.

Wednesday afternoon, Arbour said the investigation remains ongoing, and police have nothing new to report.

The RCMP said officers responded to reports that a woman was shot at Bulls Creek, just south of Woodstock, at approximately 2 a.m. Sunday.

Arbour said police arrested a 50-year-old man at the scene, then later released him.

Yellow police tape, which went up Sunday, remains in place as of noon hour on Wednesday.

As they continue their investigation, police ask anyone who may have information or witnessed anything to contact the Major Crimes Unit at 1-888-506-7267.
