RCMP seize jewelry, loaded firearm during arrests in Lutes Mountain

Two people have been charged in connection with a break-in at a Bouctouche jewelry store that began when thieves rammed their vehicle through the front entrance of a shopping mall.

The break-in happened March 5 at the Trésor d'Or jewelry store on Irving Boulevard.

Three days later, two suspects were arrested when police executed a search warrant at a motel on the Homestead Road in Lutes Mountain, near Moncton, RCMP said.

They were charged March 9 in Moncton provincial court with break, enter and theft.

Police said they recovered a large amount of stolen property at the motel, including jewelry, an SUV and cigarettes. A loaded firearm was also seized.

The suspects remain in custody and are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
