RCMP seize liquor from two youth bound for Colville Lake, N.W.T.

Norman Wells RCMP seized liquor from youth bound for Colville Lake, N.W.T. twice last week, according to a press release issued by RCMP.

The first incident, on July 28, led to police locating and seizing thirteen 760 millilitre bottles of vodka at the Norman Wells airport. In the second incident, on July 31, police located six 760 millilitre bottles, as well as forty-eight 375 millilitre bottles.

In both incidents, RCMP determined that the liquor was provided to the youth by adults, and then asked to transport the liquor to Colville Lake. The two youths carrying the liquor were aged 15 and 17.

Though many communities across the Northwest Territories are "dry" communities where alcohol is not permitted, there are no restrictions on alcohol in Colville Lake.

No charges have been laid in connection with the incidents at this time, though RCMP say both investigations are continuing.

The fine for supplying liquor to a minor is $575.
