The Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine wants your Christmas tree after the holidays.

It is holding its annual Tree Chipping for Charity event on Jan. to Jan. 4 between 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. at the Thornhill Transfer Station.

People living in the regional district can bring their Christmas trees to 3016 Old Lakelse Lake Rd. to have the trees turned into compost and donate cash at a zero-contact donation box. According to the regional district, all donations will be used to support local food banks.

Along with the zero-contact donation box, there will be enough room to physically distance at the transfer station to comply with COVID-19 precautions.
