Welcome to the Evening Standard’s LIVE coverage of Real Betis vs Real Madrid.

Zinedine Zidane’s side picked up their first win of the league campaign against a Betis team who sat second in the league after back-to-back victories.

Fede Valverde gave Madrid a first-half lead after Karim Benzema's early effort was ruled out for offside, before Betis hit back and turned the game on its head thanks to Aissa Mandi and William Carvalho.

Emerson's own goal levelled the clash once more and the Brazilian was later sent off before Marc Bartra's handball was punished by a Panenka penalty from Sergio Ramos.

Prediction: Real Betis 0-1 Real Madrid

Though Beits have made a fast start to La Liga, Real Madrid were simply sensational in their run to the title last season.

After returning from the break due to coronavirus, Los Blancos won 10 straight games to claim the title in emphatic style.

And while they looked less than frightening in their season opener against Sociedad, I'm expecting an improved performance on Saturday.
