Real estate agent sentenced for threatening to kill ex-wife

Rodney Martin has been sentenced to jail for a variety of charges.

Real estate agent Rodney Martin has been sentenced to jail for domestic violence and other charges.

Martin had already pleaded guilty to threatening to kill his ex-wife, as well as assaulting a police officer and his girlfriend.

Martin was sentenced to 10 months in jail.

He was given credit for the time he has already served in custody, so he will have serve four and a half more months behind bars.

He will also be put on probation for three years.

At a previous court appearance, Martin's ex-wife gave a victim impact statement in which she described how she lived in fear that Martin would kill her.

Martin made an unsuccessful bid in 2011 for the leadership of Newfoundland and Labrador's Liberal party.
