Record Snow Falls in Fairbanks, Alaska

Heavy snowfall broke records in Fairbanks, Alaska, over the Easter weekend, the National Weather Service (NWS) said.

Rick Thoman of the Alaska Center for Climate Assessment and Policy said snowfall between March 29 and April 4 in Fairbanks would “be at least” 21 inches, surpassing the previous record of 16.9 inches in 1948.

The National Weather Service said a separate record had been broken for the highest snowfall on April 3, surpassing a previous record set in 2016.
