Red Deer MLA Cal Dallas says he won't run again

Another cabinet minister who served under former premier Alison Redford has announced he will not be seeking re-election.

MLA for Red Deer South, Cal Dallas made the announcement on Twitter this morning.

“I firmly believe that in Premier Prentice, his cabinet and our government caucus, we have a team that will guide Alberta with vision and decisiveness through the coming years,” he wrote in a statement.

“However, renewal is an essential component of our democracy and so today I am announcing that at the completion of this term I will not seek re-election.”

Dallas was first elected in 2008 and served under four Premiers, including serving as Minister of Intergovernmental, International and Aboriginal Relations under Redford.

He currently serves as the Legislative Secretary for Intergovernmental Relations and is a member of the Treasury Board.
