Regina police host traffic enforcement blitz

Regina police started a two-day traffic enforcement blitz on Tuesday in an effort to enforce safety on the roadways.

Throughout the blitz, around 40 police officers will be joined by commercial vehicle inspection experts and child car seat technicians. Motorists should be prepared to stop if they encounter enforcement or inspection teams.

Regina Police Sgt. Ian Barr said the traffic crackdown is held twice every year.

"We get a chance to respond to a number of different complaints where we may not have the resources to tackle on our own as much as we like," said Sgt. Barr.

"Here we bring in all the partner agencies and we all work together, then we can kind of accomplish obviously more than we can do on our own."

Police will be on the lookout for speeding, seatbelt use, cellphone use, unlicensed drivers, commercial vehicle violations and Criminal Code offences including impaired driving.

The blitz continues Wednesday.
