Regina set to begin work on 41 residential roads

Some Regina residents waiting for the city to fix their neighbourhood roads will get their wish this summer.

The city said Monday it plans to spend $7.5 million on fixing residential streets.

That's after charging all homeowners a special one-per-cent road tax this year and last year. Another four years of one-per-cent hikes have been approved.

"We have consistently heard from residents that they want to see more work done on local streets," Mayor Michael Fougere said in a news release.

"We are responding with a construction plan that includes repairing more than 10 kilometres on 41 local road projects."

A list of the streets getting fixed isn't available yet.

The city is spending another $14.3 million fixing and rebuilding arterial, collector and expressway routes.

Apart from roads, the city also has $3.5 million in bridge work on its plate, including rehabilitation of the Ring Road over McDonald Street and Albert Street North over the Ring Road.
