Rehtaeh Parsons memorial walk held in Cole Harbour

More than 50 people gathered in Cole Harbour Saturday for a walk honouring Rehtaeh Parsons.

The 17-year-old died two years ago this week. She was taken off life support after attempting to take her own life.

Her parents say she was sexually assaulted and bullied for more than a year before her death.

Glen Canning was happy to see many young people honour his daughter's legacy at the event.

"I feel good to see so many young people out here holding up signs that speak to the issue of consent. To me, that's just wonderful," he said.

The memorial walk also happens to fall on sexual assault awareness month. Family and friends handed out teal ribbons in Rehtaeh's honour.
