This is your reminder to be especially bear aware this time of year
It’s always good to be bear aware, and residents of Dartmouth, N.S., got a reminder of that when this young male black bear was spotted in a tree in the Dartmouth Commons, a densely populated area.
The Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources and Renewables was quick to get on scene and were able to tranquillize the bear without causing it injury.
As bears get closer to hibernation, they are looking to put on as much weight as they can for the upcoming winter. They will seek out readily accessible foods found in green bins and garbage bins.
This bear had a happy ending as it was successfully released back into the wild after waking up from what must have been a wild day in Dartmouth.
