René-Cassin CLSC seniors' day centre to close
The decision to shut down a drop-in centre for seniors at the CLSC René-Cassin in Côte Saint-Luc will stand.
The decision was confirmed on Tuesday morning by Dr. Lawrence Rosenberg, the president-director of the new West Island Health and Social Services Centre.
The day centre near the Cavendish Mall had provided daily activities for seniors who dropped by.
Rosenberg said the decision to close the centre had nothing to do with saving money.
He said they conducted an extensive evaluation, and decided it would be better to provide a more comprehensive service at other locations locations nearby — the Henri-Bradet and St-Margaret's day centres.
Rosenberg apologized for not consulting families before making the decision.
