Jerry Kill finalizing deal to become New Mexico State head coach
Jerry Kill will be the next head coach at New Mexico State.
The former Minnesota coach and TCU interim coach is expected to be named the next head coach of the Aggies on Monday, according to Yahoo Sports' Pete Thamel.

Kill took over as TCU’s interim coach after the program split with longtime coach Gary Patterson last month. Patterson was the second-longest tenured coach in college football, behind only Iowa’s Kirk Ferentz, after spending more than two decades with the Horned Frogs.
TCU went 2-2 under Kill, and ended their year with a blowout loss to Iowa State on Friday.
“I would say that anything is possible in the future,” Kill said after that loss in Ames, via the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “I concentrated on our young people, and all of our guys did. We’ll see what happens over the next few days.”
Kill will replace Doug Martin in Las Cruces, whose contract expired after their season ended Saturday with a win over UMass. It was just the Aggies’ second win of the season.
Martin went 25-74 in his nine seasons with the program — which will enter Conference USA in 2023.
The head job at New Mexico State will be Kill's third, following a short three year run at Northern Illinois and a stint at Minnesota. He went 29-29 with the Gophers, but failed to win a bowl game, and resigned midway through his fifth season due to health reasons.
