A kitten rescued from Hurricane Matthews was adopted on the spot after sporting a sweater made out of a tube sock.

The tiny feline was brought into a pet store in Raleigh, N.C. after torrential rains swept through the area last weekend. Twitter user Sarah, who goes by the handle @crysomemore, posted a shot of the kitten, along with an eyewitness account of the kitten’s heart-warming adoption story.

When she popped into the shop to buy a tag for her cat, she noticed a family perusing the adoption area.

When a vet assistant brought out the kitten in a tiny makeshift sweater, the family went nuts.

“When I first saw her I had to fight off the temptation to take her home myself,” Sarah told LoveMeow. “This kitten was so soft and precious, and the guy’s kids were really awed by her.”

Despite never having owned a cat, the family adopted it on the spot. Tube Sock Sweater Kitten is believed to be about three weeks old.

“They bought this hilariously huge and fancy litter box and they were all so excited, so I think Tube Sock Sweater Kitten in in good hands,” Sarah wrote on Twitter.

The family has since posted a photo of the kitten, in a tube sock sweater, of course, snuggling with a dog.
