Residents say Penashue didn't give false hopes during visit

MP Peter Penashue made a visit to Black Tickle on Thursday, and residents said he didn't give them any false hopes.

The isolated southern Labrador community lacks jobs, it has problems with the water supply and needs decent transportation links.

Laura Keefe said Penashue didn't make promises when he heard the list of problems from residents.

"People here have been promised stuff for years and years, and we've never really seen anything from it," said Keefe. "But like I said, he didn't promise us anything .. he just promised us that he was going to take it back and see what he could do."

Penashue did give out one thing however — Keefe was presented with the Queen's Diamond Jubilee medal during his visit.
