According to WebMD, the 95-year-old Ketogenic Diet is one of the oldest treatments for epilepsy, and has recently been called the “new Atkins.” It operates on an extremely low or no-carb mentality and high fat which basically puts your body in a state of ketosis, where you body begins to break down its own fat to use as energy. While the diet is quickly gaining notoriety for dropping weight fast – health experts say it’s “downright dangerous” and should only be used under clinical supervision and for a brief period of time.
