Rihanna explains new album delay: ‘There are no rules. There’s no format’
Rihanna has offered an update about her new album – which will be her first one in at least four years when it does come out.
While fans have been eager to hear new music from the artist, she has remained coy about the project and has yet to give a specific release date.
Rihanna told Vogue in a new interview released on Monday that she’s ”very aggressively working on music”.
“I don’t want my albums to feel like themes,” she told the magazine.
“There are no rules. There’s no format. There’s just good music, and if I feel it, I’m putting it out.”
Asked whether the new release will be a reggae album, Rihanna appeared to confirm that it would be, telling the publication that “that is happening”.
“I feel like I have no boundaries. I’ve done everything – I’ve done all the hits, I’ve tried every genre – now I’m just, I’m wide open. I can make anything that I want,” the singer added.
Anti, her most recent album, came out in January 2016.
Since then, Rihanna has launched her cosmetics brand Fenty Beauty, as well as the lingerie brand Savage X Fenty.
