The Weather Network will be rising with the sun for a good cause at the end of the month, hoping you will join it in making the campaign a huge success.

The company will be taking part in The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health's (CAMH) Sunrise Challenge from May 31 to June 6. The initiative invites Canadians to wake up with the sun for one week to raise money for CAMH's mental health research and suicide prevention programs.

As part of the challenge, employees at The Weather Network will be getting up bright and early from May 31 to June 6, sharing what activities they are doing at each sunrise in an effort to raise money for CAMH.

"I have never had an issue discussing my battles with obsessive compulsive disorder and anxiety. It's not comfortable but people have to know they are not as alone, as I thought I was until my company supported me," said Chris Mei, a meteorologist at The Weather Network and its team captain for the event.

"Now, I want to support you or someone you know. Please donate and help me/us reach our goals to help be the change."

In disclosing what they're doing each morning, staff will talk about how this will benefit their mental health and share why they are rising, including any personal stories or connection to the cause.

"We created the Sunrise Challenge because it’s time. Time to invest in mental health like we do physical health. Time to end the silence, stigma, and shame that still surrounds mental illness today. Time to rise together and stop mental illness from destroying lives," CAMH stated in a news release.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

The first thing to do is register, which can be done here. Once you sign up, you can start fundraising for CAMH.

When the challenge begins, show us how you’re starting the day by sharing your morning photos and videos on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram using the hashtags #ShareYourSunrise and #CAMHSunriseChallenge. Follow along as we share morning views to move and inspire you throughout the week.

Share anything that gives people a glimpse into your morning — a pajama selfie, cup of coffee, yoga mat, alarm clock — anything to show your followers you completed the challenge that morning by rising with the sun.

You can also show your support by contributing to an individual or team participating in the Sunrise Challenge.

Online donations can be made here. Offline contributions can be made by cheque, addressed to “CAMH Foundation” to the individual you wish to support. Be sure to write Sunrise Challenge and the person's name in the memo line.
