Former technology executive Sameh Nashed has been hired by the RM of Edenwold as its new chief administrative officer, and started officially in the role Monday.

Nashed was announced Friday as the successor to the recently-retired Kim McIvor, and has more than 20 years of experience in the technology and power sectors as an executive. His past employers include Research in Motion, M3i Systems/Hydro Quebec, IBM Canada and SaskPower. In an RM of Edenwold press release, Nasheed is credited for developing, “a collaborative approach to successfully implementing performance-driven strategies and systems.”

RM reeve Mitchell Huber said in the press release that Nashed’s “professionalism and experience maintaining growth areas across industries made him a standout as the right person for the CAO role. As we continue to progress the RM and build strong relationships with our neighbours and communities, Mr. Nashed’s proven ability to work with many different stakeholders and successfully deliver large and complex projects will allow us to continue advancing those priorities.”

Further, Nashed’s LinkedIn profile indicates he has a degree in mechanical engineering from Alexandria University in Egypt; that he also earned a Master of Business Administration degree and post-graduate diploma in management science from Athabasca University; and that he speaks English, Arabic and French.

Neither Nashed nor reeve Mitchell Huber were available for interviews Monday in follow-up to Friday’s announcement.

McIvor officially retired Dec. 18.
